My Owen

He is really something, that kid.

The other day he wanted to watch his "Baby Owen" DVD. He always gets emotional when he watches this which makes him really cuddly. That's a nice change from his usual spastic ways. At the beginning of the DVD there are several video clips of me in the hospital and these are the ones that really make him emotional. I noticed he was sniffling and asked him if he was ok. He said, "Yeah, I'm ok. This movie is just so beautiful."

...

Yesterday we were outside for our daily scooter rides to kill time (you know that 3pm-5pm time that is pure torture?). Owen and Aidan were playing with their good friend/girlfriend Abbie and they all decided to get dressed up. Abbie is a total girlie girl so of course she was wearing princess attire while Owen was dressed as a cowboy and Aidan a Power Ranger.

Anyways, they were playing and having a good time. Owen and Abbie started walking down the sidewalk and Owen (ever the ladies-man) casually put his arm around Abbie's shoulder as they walked. I smiled at him and he turned to me and said, "What?? Abbie is my best buddy and when she wears that costume I think she looks so beautiful!" T.R.O.U.B.L.E.

"I'm a donkey on the edge!"

Aidan: Shrek is an ugly ogre. But he has a pet donkey that talks. Can we get a talking donkey?

Me: It will be pretty hard to find a talking donkey.

Owen: We can get on that just says, "hee-haw".

Owen is quite the problem solver.

Point of View

Owen likes to take pictures. One day he went around the house taking pics of everything. Everything of course includes lots of gross pics of me as well as multiple pics of the same thing. Maybe he was taking inventory. You know, for insurance purposes.

Still here...

Yes, I'm still here! I will update soon. I have some serious work to do on this blog. Now that it's been well over a month since I've posted, I feel like there is so much to update. So watch out! I'm coming back!

Sometimes...

...I need to take a shower in the middle of the day and the boys are on their own.

Sometimes.

But I go over the rules with Owen before I head upstairs. {"what do you do if someone knocks on the door?" "I say, hang on, I have to get my mom!"}

Sometimes I figure if I can't hear anything that's a good thing, but this is only true some of the time. As soon as I am mostly dressed I open the door and listen.

Sometimes I hear something and think, it's ok, they are still alive.

Sometimes I hear nothing. Then I yell, "Owen, what's going on?" He usually replies, "nothing, I'm just sitting here." Smart boy.

Today I also asked him what Aidan was doing. Owen said, "nothing, he's just scratching his big toe."

And I laughed. For whatever reason, I loved that he was so specific in his answer. Like he knew if he only said 'nothing' I would ask again.

And no one likes being asked twice.

The dilly-o

Aidan turned 3.

Easter.

Shane turned 35.

We had a big party.

I turned 31.

The end.

Yes, there are pictures. Yes, I have them and will post them.

Yes, I have too many things to do (I like it that way. I'm kinda nuts in case you didn't know.).

Yes, I have stories. Like some really good ones (especially the one where we were up the canyon and Owen said, "I need to sit on this huge rock and calm down.").

They are coming.

As soon as my personal assistant gets here.

PS- I'm interviewing potential personal assistants.
